What are the disadvantages/advantages for 840 pro & evo around 250g storage?

Also when I install my new OS should I just be putting it on the ssd? First time for everything sadly >.<

You should DEFINITELY put your OS on an SSD if you have one. The EVO is priced only about 10% higher than the current 840 (not pro) with much better read/write speeds. Unless you have an enterprise-type situation where data is being written in extremely high volumes you don't need to spend the money on an 840 pro.

It's a 5 year warranty vs a 3 year, I would assume that should be taken into account for cost effectiveness.

So? The 840 (Evo) most probably will last longer than 3 years. And also by the money you safe, you might buy a new next generation ssd in 3 years ...

That's only because they are making the pros to last with hundreds of GBs per day of write working 24/7(again in ENTERPRISE situations). There's nothing wrong with a 3 year warranty. It'll still probably outlive any HDD you get anyway  ;).

The Pro has higher random read speeds and will be faster.

The EVO uses less power.

That's about it.
