360 controllers can be had really cheap (if you dont have one already) and a wireless receiver will cost you about 10$ on ebay

I want a controller for my PC that's cheap and will last until the Steam Controller comes out in four months. Anyone have any recommendations?

keyboard? and mouse?

it CONTrols your pc ;)

Now that I'm used to using a keyboard and mouse, I think it's way better. Before however, I couldn't use keyboard/mouse for balls.

See if any mates have an old spare 360 controller or ps3, and use them wired, wont need to spend any money then. If not get a cheap xbox controller till you get your steam controller.

And if you haven't already you could just try getting used to using your keyboard and mouse, I played console all my life but found it pretty easy to switch over for most games.

I'm looking for something that's more like $10-$15. Don't need it to last that long.

That actually work? Every one that's under $20 that I've seen has been 3 stars or less on Amazon.

I'm used to the keyboard and mouse, I just find it easier to use a controller well flying on ArmA3, and a few other games like that.

Do you have either a PS3 controller or a  xbox 360 controllers? If so you can connect them to your PC via USB or bluetooth.

For the PS3 use SCP PS3  and for 360 controllers use the official drivers for them

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

I do not. That's why I'm asking.

Seriously, the XBox 360 controllers are some of the best controllers for a PC that you can get. Look for them used at your local Gaming Store, or check online Amazon/Newegg, etc. Ebay would also sell them, but I'd be more cautious.

I would also make sure you get an Official Microsoft one. Some 3rd party knockoffs might look identical on the outside, but are cheap and shitty.

Seriously though, for under $20, you can't expect a good quality controller, brand new. 3 stars seems pretty spot on for a sub $20 PC controller.

.

yea it has worked for a few years now. The only bad thing is it never wants to install right with plug and play so you have to go into device manager, manually install drivers, select from a list on my pc and manually select xbox accessories from the list (at the bottom) and select wireless receiver or wired controller depending on what you get.

Took me a while to figure out the first time but takes 10 seconds each time i plug it in. Yes each time.

I'd avoid the Wireless model if possible, for a newb, since the drivers for the Wireless Dongle can be really touchy - plus it's an extra $10-20 cost on-top of the controller itself.

yeah I figured theres a decent chance he'd have one/could get one crazy cheap.  I've got two and no 360 haha.  the drivers are kinda a pain but other than manually installing which is pretty easy I havent had a problem.  wired would probably be the way to go thou

I have 3 360 controllers behind my monitor :P

To be fair, I used to have an XBox 360, but when I got rid of it, I kept some of the controllers. Mostly just for local multiplayer Castle Crashers on Steam :D
