I need a new laptop for school and general use (I may or may not have a left a magnet on my old laptop). And I'm thinking of buying the 2015 MacBook. WAIT, before you slap me with your GTX 980's can I say some things? Many people say that there is no way to justify the MacBook, but I'm gonna try. So could people put their biases away and tell me if I'm making even a little but of sense, or im being ridiculous?

Size- Of course, as everyone knows, the MacBook is ultra thin and light, which is great for school and use pretty much everywhere.

Screen- When I started looking for a laptop, I new I wanted it to have an above standard 1080p screen, so the retina is perfect.

Battery- Though 9 hours is nothing crazy, it will most likely be enough to get me through a 7 hour day of school and some Netflix watching at home.

Storage- 256 gigabytes is more than enough for me, and that fact that it is PCIe makes it ultra fast.

OS X- OS X includes apps like mail, messages, pages, calendar, contacts, and many more which would make for a seamless relationship between my iPhone and my laptop.

To myself, I sound completely sane in saying that I would spend $1300 for this ultra thin laptop with a OS that goes along with iOS, pretty good battery life for its size, a beautiful screen, and let's not forget the absolute marvels of technology that are the new keyboard and trackpad. Leave your thoughys below.

It's basically a MacBook Air with a nicer screen, but less powerful, higher price, and less ports.

Or a smaller/lighter but weaker more expensive version of the 13" MacBook Pro

But hey, space grey sure is sexy  ^_^

No, some people need the battery life of MacBooks and don't want to game, that's reasonable. However, why not get the 13" inch MacBook Pro, it has better cooling (mine with the 4th gen processor gets 85 c at max and barely throttles). Plus you need these ports nowadays

It's a good buy, but the base models of the Macbooks suck FU***** dick, I would ramp up some of the specs on the MacBook Pro if you're wanting a good performance laptop for stuff like Photoshop, Video Editing, Light Gaming etc, but if you're only doing word processing the Macbook Air Base model would be fine :) (I would still recommend a Macbook Pro however)

Uggghhhh, I knew this would happen. I don't want an air, period. The screen is just not good enough for me. And for the people who said I should get a pro, I'm not totally against it, but is it comfortable to have in your lap, and easy to move around from place to place?

Well it has about 50% more weight and is a little taller, but still, it's a pretty slim laptop, and it still barely weighs anything, it wont be like moving around a tablet, but how hard could it be aha

I picked up a 2015 macbook Pro about a month ago.   I looked at the macbook and almost pulled the trigger.  Honestly if I was still working out of my car as much as I did last year I probably would have.   The screen is amazing and they keyboard, while not as nice as the pro, is better than many others I have used.

Like always, it comes down to your needs.  Do you need ultra portability where you have the laptop in and out all day long?  Or do you need a bit more power?

For me everything is done through my home file server, icloud, and dropbox.  So I don't really care about how many ports a computer has.

Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly; the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly.

Yeah, I think I can sacrifice some portability for the better specs and even larger screen size.
