Hey guys i need advices for my next "immersive" build.

I'll try to summ for you:

I want to build an immersive gaming/watching movies setup for that i'll be getting 4 monitors (3 in nvidia surround + 1 accessory) and a soundcard :

http://www.asus.com/Sound/Xonar_DGX/

i already own this 5.1 home theater : http://www.lg.com/uk/home-cinema-systems/lg-HT806TH-home-cinema-system

and these headphones ; http://www.beatsbydre.com/headphones/studio/beats-beatsstudio.html

I would like to use it with my build so i just wanted to know how to connect them and have them working in 5.1(HT).

I'd also like to get 5.1/7.1 for the headset via software will it be possible? (Razer surround/Supremefx)

Thanks for upcoming help.

Spdif can output 5.1, it's just not very well supported in games. Hdmi is more reliable for that.

But my home theater doesn't have HDMI in so what can i do?

Home theater connections: RCA,S/PDIF/Jack 3.5mm

Sound card connections: Jack 3.5mm/S/PDIF

How to get full 5.1,

Could i use the Dolby digital live software to get 5.1 by S/PDIF?

As far as I'm aware a Spdif output works the same as any other audio device, and as a user of a 5.1 HT setup I can vouch for the fact that almost all games have really good surround support. I believe this is due to the fact most games outsource their audio handling to an audio engine like Wwise.

As for OP, id take a miss on the sound card. Spdif carries a digital signal, which means that the soundcard would simply be taking the digital signal from your pc and handing it off to your home theatre system without touching it. Just plug the HT system into the Spdif on the motherboard. As for the Headphones, if you can, hook them up to your home theatre via a headphone port or something or just settle with the on-board sound. If you simply must have something else, get an amp/DAC recommended by any one of the more knowledgeable people on here. A sound card being inside the case is subject to the same noise the on-board is anyway, and therefore doesn't offer much use these days.

Ok but people say that S/PDIF doesn't carry 5.1 when the signal is not Dolby Digital and not much games offer that

how do you connect your system?
