i bought an hp computer about a year and a half ago and have recently decieded to build a new one so i wanted to know how to use the hard drive from my old computer that has windows 8.1 on it in the new computer i have looked for how to do it online some say you cant but others said something about calling microsoft and they would help with it but i have no idea what to do if anyone can help i would really appreciate it

You "can't" nor should you use it as the OS has all the drivers and other crap related to the HP's hardware. Yes you can call MS and they might believe whatever story you tell them, but that's just unethical. It's best you do a clean install of Windows 8.1 on your new PC.
