hi

i have a GTX970 in my PC and one monitor at the moment, (for gaming)

im planing to get a GTX980ti and another monitor, (replacing the old gaming rig)

Question:

Can the GTX970 and GTX980ti be in the same PC (not SLI) outputing two different monitor that are doing different things (ie. one gaming while the other be on twitch)?

thank you.

You can, but there's no point. You may as well sell the 970 and just run both displays from the 980Ti.

Agree

Yup. 980 ti is more than capable of running 3 displays, let alone 2.

Yes you can do that, but as others have stated, it's not worth it. You're better off selling the card(or just keeping it in its box) or using it for folding@home/BOINC.

yes i see what youre saying,

but i want to have the best uninterrupted video output for one gaming display,

and the other one to be separated,

all i wanna know is if thatd work:)

It will work, but it is a complete waste of a card.

Having multiple displays connected to a single card doesn't interrupt video output at all. If anything, it will actually put more strain on the CPU and system as a whole having multiple cards. I've had 4 monitors connected to a single card, with one of them being 4K, and it makes absolutely no difference to gaming performance or any other functionality.

You'd essentially have a $300+ card doing what your iGPU could do just as well.

Yes you can, I do it with my 660 (Also use it to render in Blender with my 970)
