I need a way to convince my parents that MSI won't fix my motherboard with bent pins (long story). It would be a waste of time and money to RMA it to them (two weeks without my PC it two long). My dad thinks that I'll get another RMA miracle like I did with the CEO of Nvidia. He doesn't realize that they can't even test the freaking motherboard with a CPU... or know that my initial issue (nothing to do with pins) even exists. The whole thing would be a complete loss for them and replacing the chipset would be impossible (or way too expensive).

Just buy a new mobo. Why not? Is it intel? If so, this is an amazing deal that I just foundd http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132124R&cm_re=asus_z97_sabertooth-_-13-132-124R-_-Product

You can't explain that they don't cover the damage? I'm sure if you painted them (unfairly I admit) as a "evil corporation who hates the consumer" they would understand?

I do however think you should just RMA it, you're not doing anything time/mission critical and 2 weeks is trivial in the long run!

That's another thing... there is an Asus X99 Pro for $70 less open box at my Microcenter but my dad says "We're not buying new things and I can't trust an open box because it will brake sooner than a new one." My $3500 bank account (which frankly I earned every penny of) is set up so I need them with me to make a withdraw :/

Well I hardly have time to game or make videos or anything like that during the school year. 2 weeks in the summer is pretty significant for me. My dad also read the MSI terms and conditions and it said that they have the choice to accept bent pins or not and is acting like that will be my saving grace.  He never understands anything.

He's trying to save you money, an X99 board in the US s like $200+? If that's $200 over 2 weeks then the wait is more than justified.

That's why you don't ever raise peoples expectations.

Not only that but he wont let me get an Asus X99 Pro when they (inevitably) reject the RMA. Why? Its open box. And, it's $70 cheaper. Like GG dad, thanks for the life lesson. Buy a newer, lesser car than a much better used car. That's basically what he's saying.

I don't want to spend the money, trust me. I just know that MSI will reject it due to how crappy their support alone is and how stingy companies can be.

I RMA'd my old Z87-G43 (so I could sell it) with a bent pin and they sent a replacement straight away, took 4 days (this is in the UK though)

take a sewing pin and raise the bent CPU pins. you just need rock-steady hands, lots of patience and low expectations of success so that you aren't cursing to yourself into a state of depression if you fail.

There are a few that are broken and there are a ton of them... my fucking H100i did a drive by like it was killing Tupac (I had the block resting on my mobo heatsink and it was really snug but for some reason it came loose and hit the socket).

Well this has 0 human contact so try this: https://service.msicomputer.com/msi_user/support/rma_form.aspx

I know... and it's vague and you have to pay for shipping (Razer, NZXT, etc. don't make you no matter what). I just really want to ask them ahead of time so that I know.

Oh my god. Sounds terrible. Are you old enough to buy a new one and order it yourself? I feel your pain man.

Lots of bad luck with Nvidia cards -> contacted CEO -> sent me a "GTX 970" to replace my GTX 780 -> Covert ends up with a Titan X

HOW did you contact CEO?
