I just finished creating my pc and i cant get w8.1 to install. I bought the cd version from the store and im using a memorex 8x external drive. My pc doesnt have an internal drive. The problem is i cant get it to boot from the drive. Ive set the bios to boot from the drive but when its trying to boot nothing haplens and it just goes to the bios.

what motherboard you have?

during POST there should appear a shortcut key for Boot Menu, try using that

also try to set legacy boot option in bios
