Hey guys!

I'm from Brazil and I'm going on a trip to San Antonio, TX in 3 days. I plan on upgrading my current system, not build a new one. I have a decent 1TB HDD , 16 GB of DDR3 @1600 MHz  and a big case with lots of coolers. Those Items I don't plan on replacing as of right now. However, I'm getting a new processor, motherboard, GPU and PSU (and possibly an SSD???). If you guys could give me some advice on parts to pick, it would be greatly appreciated.

For these upgrades, my budget would be 1300 USD. I'm studying Comp Sci, and I will use this machine for some heavier workloads (3D rendering, unity game development, video editing, image editing). Also, I will use it for gaming and all regular computer stuff (browsing the web, etc). For my monitors, I currently own  1 1080p monitor, but I'm also getting a triple 1080p setup for productivity uses and for racing games.

PS: This budget is exclusively for the aforemecioned parts, so no peripherals, case, RAM, or HDD required.

Look forward to hearing from you (:

$55 over budget includes a 256GB SSD, could bump it down to within budget and no SSD 980Ti will be a beast for gaming, 8 threads of the I7 will do all the work.

There is so much available in this price range.
Of course I went with an 4790k, as it is the best performing CPU right now that is comaptible to your DDR3 RAM. Otherwise I would've gone with a 5820k.

The be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 is a really good performing and also looking CPU cooler. You could also replace it with an AIO such as the Cooler Master Nepton 240M which is really awesome.

The BX100 250GB SSD is really cheap for the nice performance that comes with it. Extremely fast for a really low price. You could even get a 500GB version if you want to.

The MSI Radeon R9 390 I thought is a nice choice because of its high amount of VRAM which should benefit you for your game development. But also here are so many GPUs you could take into consideration. Maybe even the new R9 Fury Pro which also performs really great. Or a 980TI if you save some money on other parts.
The R9 390 is also really cheap for the performance. It has no problems keeping up with the GTX 970.

How is he going to cool his CPU? ;)

Replace the 850 Evo with a BX100, get a MSI PC Mate and he might actually safe anough money for a decent CPU cooler such as the Hyper 212.

It's pretty hard to squeeze a 980Ti into that build together with an SSD.
