Performance issues (bottleneck possibility)

Go to solution Solved by fwdkiller,

Perhaps it's time to reinstall my Windows 7 :D

I haven't reinstalled the OS for like 3-4 years.

Hopefully that will clear out all the clutter that could decrease the performance of my computer.

Try windows 8.1 or wait for windows 10 it might solve the issues.

Dear Techies,

I'd like to request some assistance regarding my current rig.

I've been running into some performance issues while gaming... maybe my settings are bad or the setup I use gets bottleneck-ed.

Games with FPS issues:

Grand Theft Auto 5 (online - offline)

Witcher 3

I usually try to maximize the settings in all of my games (ultra or high). Or perhaps the Nvidia Control Panel settings are bad... I'm not really sure what could be the problem.

My rig:

  • PSU: Zalman 650W
  • CPU: Intel i5 3570K (OC-d til 4.2GHz)
  • MB: MSI Mpower Z77 (BigBang)
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2166 MHz DDR3
  • VGA: GigaByte GTX 980 G1 Gaming
  • Display: LG 34" UM65-P (2560x1080)
  • Peripherals: Razer Naga 2014, Ozone Rage Headset, Razer BlackWidow 2014

Every tip or support is appreciated! :)

Kind reGards,

Gergely

PS: I'm at work at the moment, so I'm unable to provide screenshots of my settings. ;)

What do you mean FPS issues? Low FPS? Stutters? Very wide FPS difference? Please be more specific.

Oh sorry. I mean big FPS drops > from 60+ fps to 24 fps... Mostly happening with shadow/smoke effects.

The GPU never gets hotter than 62°C.

Have you got the latest drivers? If yes, then run Nvidias optimization suite and see if that helps.

Yes the drivers are all up to date.

If I apply the Nvidia "optimization" setting, then I have even less FPS from the start. :D

Turn off the extra advanced options if you haven't already.

Oh yes, I started with that when I installed the game (thanks to TotalBiscuit's video).

Well maybe if it's the games fault then I think there is nothing much to do about it externally. :\

I hope my rig will be able to run future games without issues :)

Thank you for the help though.

I find this strange. I was running 970 sli in 4K at 60FPS with no drops.

Just don't worry about gta5 is a bad port if i can't get a steady 60fps with a titan x than gta5 is broken as hell even i have to use vsync cause the stutter is that bad in gta5 others games i run pass 100fps lol.

I would love to see your 60 fps in 4k all setting maxed cause on 4k im using 6gb of vram and thats double your vram.
