I was wondering if I could replace/upgrade my laptop CPU to something that isn't a pile of crap (AMD A6 4400m). I am not very knowledgeable with AMD sockets or CPUs so I was hoping someone could let me know what other AMD CPUs would work in my laptop.

You can't. CPUs are soldered onto the motherboard in laptops.

That's true but not for all laptops like a lot of laptops their CPUs are changeable like my Lenovo G580 I can take the CPU out and change it but the problem is finding a CPU.

Ive taken my laptop apart before for a custom ghetto cooling upgrade and I know for a fact that the CPU is replaceable/not soldered to MB.

these seem to to be the cpus you could upgrade to.

A10-5750M or A10-4600M

couldn't find any information on the a10-5750m but I did find the 4600m on Amazon... so I bought it. I'll let you know if it is successful when i get it installed.

Yeah, they are usually expensive as hell on ebay.

found a cpu that should work, $30. Expensive? I think not.

SOME CPU's are soldered, the one in my Alienware M14Xr2 isn't soldered however my GPU is, I took it apart to fix the thermal issues but they're not made to be took apart and put back together again just saying its all sitting in a box so if anyone wants 8GB of Samsung RAM or somethin they can have it xD

if i really wanted to, I'd put it on the classifieds, I'll probably buy a laptop w the lowest amount of RAM possible to save some $
