FPS Drop in BF4?

Hey all, I was going to start this thread a while back, but I just got lazy. First and foremost, here are my specs:

 

AMD FX 6300 @ 3.7GHz (stock voltage)

AsRock 970M Pro3

16GB DDR3 1600MHz Hynix RAM (kinda generic ram, I know)

Samsung 840 PRO 512GB (RAPID tech enabled, maximum performance mode in Samsung Magician)

ASUS GeForce GTX 760 (+100MHz GPU clock and +50 MHz memory clock)

EVGA 400W PSU

Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview Build 10162

Nvidia Windows 10 Drivers (latest)

 

So, all in all, I get around 55-75 FPS in BF4, completely maxed at 1080P. Usually I leave V-Sync on because I can't stand tearing. The thing is, when I blow up say, a tank with some C4, explosions and a lot of fire drop my FPS to below 20 FPS, almost to 10 FPS. This sometimes causes me to die from the enemy because I can't do anything because of the input lag. A similar problem occured when I was playing the campaign, and I reached the water front in Shanghai (when you rescue the dude with the head trauma). I couldn't look at the water, as the frame rate dropped to 15 FPS. Another place this happens is in Seige of Shanghai when the building collapses. After this happens, when I pass the section behind the building (not the water front, but the road) the frame rate drops to unplayable FPS, I think due to the amount of ash and particles in the air.

 

So what's the problem? Is it the Windows 10 drivers? This only started happening recently even with the Windows 10 drivers and has gotten worse and more occurent. I really enjoy BF4; it's the game I usually play and it has the most hours on it. Please help me out! Thanks!

Well, you have a strong GPU and a nice amount of RAM, so it can't be those. I'm not saying that it is, but your CPU isn't the best and FX CPU's are prone to fps drops in a lot of games. I run a i5 and a gtx 570 and I max BF4 60 fps (I got it to 55 walking through a smoke grenade once.) You have a much better GPU than me and that shouldn't be happening. I would scour the internet for more info on how your CPU handles BF4.

I knew a lot of people would start complaining about my CPU. That isn't the problem. Before Windows 10, I had the same FPS and no drops when the explosions and stuff happened, even with my FX 6300.

It is NOT the CPU. This was not happening before I installed Windows 10, and I had the FX 6300 before then. Bad idea to post on this forum, people get butthurt over my CPU because it's not Intel. I know they're better, but that's not the issue I'm having.

well if it didnt happen before windows 10.. and it started happening after installing windows 10.. ill give you 3 guesses whats the cause...

It definitely is the problem. All your other hardware is 100% ready for BF4 1080p

Yes, but when I had build 10130, the FPS drop wasn't a thing. With build 10162, which fixes bugs and stuff, it is a thing. I'm guessing it's the Windows 10 build?

I'm not going to (as of right now) buy any new components. My system is fine for what it is. Also, Mantle is dead, didn't you hear?

For new titles yes but BF is a game out and running Mantle, Mantle is kinda like DX12.

Yep. Or at least the build I'm running. Hopefully Nvidia gets their sh*t together before the 29th of July.

easiest way to reclaim fps on BF4 without lowering visuals, is to lower post processing, lower AA and lower shadow quality. Non of these things will have a visual impact but will regain performance.

Well no i had an 8350 and it sucked for BF4 as soon as i went intel it worked fine

Well that's great for you, and I'm happy you got the experience you wanted. I will upgrade to Intel, but I don't have the money right now, and my system performs the way I want it to (besides WINDOWS 10 BEING A DUMBF*CK lol).
