I5+970 is where it is for 1080p gaming ATM.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

Have you ever played with that many mods? Do you have ANY idea how intensive that is? I also plan on using shaders, which cause even an i7-4790k +GTX 960 to struggle, even with 6gb of allocated ram.

...my I5 3570K+ crossfired 7970s ran countless mod packs in SPLITSCREEN+SERVER. with no issueish. ran rather smooth.

I have, if you use optifine it works great, and that was with a i5 3450 and a R7 260
