I think my motherboard has thunderbolt support. (TB Header) asus m5a97

Ya ive been looking on my mainboard and found strange headers that are not on the manual. such as tb header? is that thunderbolt. If it is i though tb headers are on more the premium boards like asus ROG boards.

Yes. That is a Thunderbolt header.

A "strange header" is not very specific lol

It's an AMD platform, shouldn't have TB.

Well it might be for ASUS Thunderbolt EX Solution which basicaly shoud also work with amd boards, but afaik they don't sell these cards (yet)

there it is right under the sata ports. so i guess could be thunderbolt for future that asus is not telling us. it really bugs me though having thunderbolt support. seems like to get a thunderbolt ex its basiclyuu have to call tyo buy it. which probably comes with hefty price.

From what I can find, it is a header for an external thunderbolt card that Asus was planning to release, the ThunderboltEX. It is available, but very hard to find.

Hope this helps!

From what i know.. intel hasn't given asus the go ahead on this. asus would be selling this card if they could. http://www.tonymacx86.com/86-asus-thunderbolt-add-card-asrock-s-thunderbolt-motherboard-doesn-t-pass-certification.html
