GPU Quit Outputting a signal

Go to solution Solved by Devon_Pearce,

so you think I should just replace the card? I've been saving up for a high end PC x99, 980/ti etc. but as of right now im not there yet you think i should just drop 50-100 dollars on a used GPU as a temporary solution.

Definitely, for him I managed to get him running his games just fine on on-board graphics, but I'm guessing yours may be a bit harder to run, or your running a board with out on-board graphics. Either a cheapie card/ last gen discount card, or even something like a 750ti that you can just sell off once your done with it or put into a media centre pc later, those options sound good for your situation.

So I was playing League of  Legends last night and i stopped for 1 minute to go comfort my dogs because of the fireworks and when I come back my monitor is black, headset not functioning , but the power of the pc is still on. I was told by my friend that I was still in game up until I turned off the PC, so I assume that the GPU stopped outputting the signal. The card is old HD 6950 however I had been using it for little over a year, slightly overclocked. I tested the hdmi port and the dvi port none of which were working. But the fan still runs on the card when turned on and I tried it on different monitors and ended with the same results. I believe it could be the GPU just failing after 5 years, or maybe the motherboard as it was having some minor issues such as one 4 pin fan connecter not working, along with the onboard sound not working with speakers which output signals on the right side. What should I do?

yea sounds like your pc is pretty broken lol

Mobo is a z77 asus sabertooth, switched accounts forgot that this one is without the 17, i5 2310 its not exactly broken i can live with the issues as i just moved the fan to a different 4 pin and as for the audio ill just use monitor speakers instead of the bose ones I have or just get a sound card

I had the same thing happen to a customer. In his case it was a voltage regulator failing, and the card lit on fire when i put it in my test bench.
