Drive Wiping/Data Erasing/Destruction

So...... anyone got some good recommendations how how to fucking obliterate data on hard drives on SSDs? I've used Dban.org or whatever it is it just takes a long time and is kind of sketchy to me lol, I was wondering if there are some other recommendations available

Naw DBAN isn't sketchy. It's taking long because so other people can't obtain data off of it. That is what it was originally created for

Maybe CCleaner could help you wipe out the drive faster.

dban will write passes of randomized data over it. Do a few passes and you should be fine. I used to use a hardware version of the same thing with 7 passes and that was good for super sensitive data according to management...so yea 

it takes long as it writes on every single bit on every sector on your drive.

The only way to get the data completely off an SSD is to physically damage it, from what I understand (unless the manufacturer has a utility that securely erases the drive and actually works reliably). Data can get stored in cells that aren't currently used because they've died or it's trying to balance wear or whatever.

 

This only really matters if you're committing fraud or something like that and storing evidence on your SSD. If you're just trying to delete everything so you can sell the SSD to someone, it probably doesn't matter.
