First time build

Go to solution Solved by TheCaptain53,

for cpu i recommend an i7 for your gaming. i don't know any psus to recommend. but for cpu cooler i will say the corsair h100i gtx is killer even in quiet mode.

good luck. :D

LOLwut? There are little to no benefits in game when using an i7-4790K over an i5-4690K - certainly not enough to justify its price premium.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/tjBvt6 first off is there anything wrong this build and i need help finding a stylish case for the computer

i have been looking at be quiet! Silent Base 800/NZXT Phantom 530

case budget is £80-90

What is your budget ? £850 UK £££GBP£££

i will be playing games such as battlefield 4, cod, csgo, crysis 3, gta v and witcher 3

also can someone recommend a better psu/cpu cooler for overclocking and maybe sli in future

The build looks really solid. However, here are a couple of points:

  1. Get yourself an SSD. You'll thank me later. A 120GB SSD can hold your OS and a couple of core programs, but it makes everything snappier.
  2. That PSU is said to be pretty weak. I'd recommend an EVGA 550/650GS. If you're planning to SLI, the 650GS would probably be enough given how power efficient Maxwell is. But for some extra redundancy, consider a 750G2. If you change your mind and decide to get an AMD graphics card, the 650GS would probably be enough. However, for Xfire, you will probably need a larger PSU, something in the realms of 750-850W. Speaking of AMD...
  3. Have you considered an AMD card? I personally like Nvidia for their excellent power consumption, but a lot of people don't mind turning their PC into a space heater.

    troll_face2.png

However, they are the price to performance king, so they're definitely worth considering.

  4. A lot of people generally hold Nvidia board partners in this hierarchy: Gigabyte > EVGA > MSI > ASUS > Other (possibly with the exception of someone like Galax). If you can fit it, why not consider a Gigabyte card instead? I personally use an EVGA because I quite like them, but preferences vary among different people.
  5. If you are getting an aftermarket cooler, make sure your case is big enough to accommodate it. The Hyper 212 EVO is 159mm tall, so make sure the case will allow for a CPU cooler with a height of 160+mm.

Other than that, looks really good. Have fun! :)

PS. Sorry I couldn't be much help with a case choice, I was unwise and bought myself a Corsair Spec-01 which leaves few to be desired, so I don't really have much ground to stand on (it does look badass, though).

For PSUs look in the EVGA GS series and for cpu coolers, the Hyper 212 EVO does a 'decent' job but you can always buy an AIO liquid cooler or make your own loop
