Getting into robotics

Hey guys

I didn't know where to put this so if its wrong i apologize.

I want to get into robotics like building them and programming them. Has anyone got any good starter kits or anyuthing similar they can recommend.

Something like arduino to get the basics down, thats what I'm doing currently and it's quite fun, I got a kit that's called sunfounder Superkit for arduino. Maybe look a jeremy blooms blum book/video series . Get  some servos and those kinds of things.

A few things to think about (right off the top of my head):

1. C++/C/Python
2. Interop to higher level languages
3. Architecture, design patterns & principals in both OO and functional/procedural paradigms
4. Understanding of protocols - specifically implementing them
5. Understanding of serial communications
6. Understanding of network stacks and networking in general
7. Understanding of control loops
8. Mathematics
9. Physics
10. Electronics
11. Mechanics
12. Understanding of mobile platforms

How do you feel about those and have you had any experience of any so far?
