Best way to record gameplay on Android?

So, I play quite a lot of games on my phone and I'm quite good at them.

I want to record my gameplay and like make YouTube videos and stuff. But I don't know what software to use to record the screen. My phone isn't rooted and there's no chance I'm rooting it. Just not gonna happen.

Also how should I record the voice over - I was thinking I should just record it on PC with my mic and then insert it to the video with the editing software.

Thanks for any help  ;)

Does it require root?

screen recording is build into android 5.0+ and thus screen recording apps no longer require root to work. I've messed about with a few but never found any on play that staisfied me.

So... can I still use those apps that "require root" or not?

Theoretically yes, provided your device is rooted.

some of the apps have been updated to support the new apis and thus don't need root on android 5 but do on lower versions.

Just tested out https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hecorat.screenrecorder.free&hl=en_GB  it pretty nice can even record your face if you donate.

Sorry, I missed that one bit.

I'd just give it a shot with a free app, worst that could happen is that you get an error message and you'd uninstall it.
