Hey LTT community.

I've been thinking of buying an SSD for my laptop because of the super slow performance of a 5400RPM drive in it.

My original plan was to get an adapter for my current HDD and place it instead of the DVD drive in my laptop which I never use.

So my storage would be SSD+500GB 5400RPM HDD.

Here are my laptop specs:
HP 250 G3

CPU: i3 4005u

RAM: 4GB 1600MHz ddr3

GPU: Intel HD with Nvidia 820m 1GB ddr3

Display: 15.6" 1366x768

HDD: 500GB 5400RPM

Now, considering I've been using SSDs since 2010 in my desktop I've gotten used to how blazing fast things are and after a while I deducted that the issue with my laptop is that the slow HDD is killing it.

I got a Patriot Pyro 60GB in my desktop for OS and some software, games and storage are all on my other HDDs. So I plan on getting an SSD just for OS and some software.

I've been thinking of getting a 120GB SSD and today I found out (via Facebook) that a store here is having a discount on SSDs.

I can get a Partiot Blaze 60GB for 32 euro or a 120GB for 52 euro.

It got me thinking about getting the 60GB version and buying a stick of 4GB ddr3 so I have 8GB of RAM total. But with windows 10 coming out, I'm wondering if 60GB will be enough for Win 10 64 bit and some software such as office etc that I use daily.

So what do you guys think? 60GB + 4GB RAM or 120GB and save up for a while and get another 4GB RAM in 2-3 months.

Here is a link to the store I'm getting it from. The prices are in RSD so please divide by 121 in order to get the price in euro.

Thanks a lot guys. Cheers!
Bogica :)

Good price. I would get it. Definitely 120gb version though.

there's a saying : the bigger , the better

If you can, get the 120GB and a stick of ram.. if not then the 60 will do for os and help some but you'll still be pulling applications from the slow hdd.

Ok. So 120GB and save up a bit for the stick of RAM. Got it! Thanks! :D

Now I went into the full list of SSDs they have and bumped into these two.

I've used Patriot before and they are ok. However, I see they have Silicon Power? It costs 1e more but there is a difference in speeds. What do you guys recommend?

silicon power has better reviews, but really you shouldn't notice a difference between the two.
