Im currently using a i5 4670k, asus Z97-k, R928WFOC. Its in a NZXT mid 410 case with a FSP 650W raider PSU. Im a beginner overclocker and I am after advice on GPU and CPU clocking. I will be adding a artic cooler fan, havent pick which one out yet but dont wanna go so high on price. Im after a small clock to begin with without messing with the voltage to much.

 

For the i5 I wanted to try and get to atleast 4.2ghz but idk if its possible to make the voltage stay under what the default voltage is. For my first attempt is there a possible way to make the auto hit 4.2 then try decreasing the volts to see how low it can go? If there is a better way I should try for manual, what should I have the voltage start at before I start upping the speed? I have trouble understanding things sometimes so im looking for different ways I can achieve this?

 

For the R928 I wanted to just see how high I can safetly get it without touching the voltage but willing to have a shot at the power limit. Like what should I up the core and memory by each time when testing? What is a safe zone you guys reckon I should stop around at without using the voltage?

 

Remember just new at this and learning how to start clocking in general. Ive already watched other people do it, but I notice cause they have bigger machines they up there stuff much higher then my set up probably would. Just looking for the safety fight advice before diving in :)

You can most likely reach 4.2 ghz without increasing the voltages, and because of that the temps should not change too much (if you are on the stock cooler, dont bother until you cooling is sorted)

 

for the gpu, bump it up by 20 mhz on the core, and test it out. check reviews on your cards, and see if they overclocked it, and if so try to see if their settings work on your card.

So if I get it to 4.2 what should I leave the Voltage as or what should I set it to when increasing? Like do I take it down to like 1 and go from there or? 

 

Do I bother with the memory at all for the GPU?

try running stress test on default voltage and if all good degrease it by 0.01 and so on

for the memory yes of course

So if I take the core up by 20 at a time should I do the memory by 20 as well or by more? Since memory seems to have higher numbers.

you can probably get away with 50 mhz intervals, and at first you might be able to go up by 100mhz then by 50 mhz increments. Dont increase both at the same time though, so you know that max of each.
