Help upgrading PC

Go to solution Solved by CoolBeans,

Wait until you have enough money and buy the hole PC at once.

I want to upgrade my PC but I can't buy all the parts at once. I want a new CPU but that means I have to buy a new power supply, motherboard, Windows 7, and maybe RAM. Should I jump on a Haswell CPU or wait for Skylake to be released? All suggestions are welcomed. :)

specs

CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5 GHz

Motherboard - I don't know. It's a stock motherboard from an HP computer :c

RAM - Same as above. I took out parts from an HP computer so it's pretty hard to tell.

Video card - EVGA GTX 560 overclocked (non Ti)

Power Supply - Thermaltake TR2 600w

Case - Corsair C70

Monitor - 1600x900

$200 is a tight budget...I don't think it's worth upgrading with only $200.

I mean, it can't even buy a new CPU (haswell) and motherboard...

lol I don't plan to buy everything with $200. I just wanted to buy 1 component at a time but @CoolBeans made me change my mind and wait till I have all the money.

I guess you're right but I have a question. Should I get a Haswell CPU or wait for the next line of CPUs?

You can wait but then people are going to tell you to wait until the next line of CPUs come out and the cycle starts again. I would just go with the Haswell CPUs when you have enough money to do a full upgrade.

CPU: Intel core i5 3570 Motherboard: Gigabyte-H77-DS3H Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB  GPU: MSI Radeon HD 7950 Twin Frozr III Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB  PSU: Seasonic G Series 550W

Get a AMD CPU if you are on a budget

I can afford it down the road. I just payed for all my classes. :c

Alright. I'll most likely jump on it when I have enough for a full upgrade. Thanks :)

Oh, lol. I guess I misunderstood you.

Anyways, if that's the case, then I can only give you the same advice @CoolBeans gave you.

About your current build, did you not notice a bottleneck with the GPU? That CPU is probably bottlenecking the gpu

CPU: i7-4770k CPU Cooler: NH-D14 RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8gb GPU: EVGA Superclocked 780 ti MOBO: ASUS Maximus VI Gene PSU: Corsair RM 850 Case: Bitfenix Prodigy M
