Windows 10 doubling 2.4Ghz WiFi speed?

Go to solution Solved by Kodiack,

It's not unheard of for new WiFi adapter drivers to massively improve wireless performance. Windows 10 likely includes newer, better-performing drivers for your chip right out of the box.

I see huge differences in WiFi performance like this all the time in Linux, especially on newer and/or more obscure chips. Back when I took special tech support calls for Comcast customers, it was also incredibly common for driver updates to (more than!) triple performance, and make the connection drastically more reliable.

Note: i didn't know if i should post this here or in networking*

Okay, so as the title says, i'm currently running the Windows 10 Insider Preview (Build 10130) and noticed a massive boost in speed on my 2.4ghz network, from 30-40mbps to 80-95mbps after going from Windows 8.1. Nothing has changed except for the OS. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this just a fluke, or does Windows 10 have some special way of boosting the speed?
