I currently have an fx-6300 and I'm hoping to upgrade. Would it be worth it to get the 8370, because it is already compatible with my motherboard. Or is the hassle of essentially rebuilding my computer, paying higher prices, and potentially outperforming my 280x worth it for getting an i5 4690k? I don't have a lot of money to spend either.

Save and wait for skylake and Zen, I'm in the same boat. Then I'm going to use my 6300 to fold.

A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.
