I am trying to change the the resolution of the surface pro.

I came across this article. http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/threads/surface-pro-3-custom-resolution-s-registry-entry.64713/

But I dont know where to go about making the changes, can someone walk me through?

Or am I doing this wrongly and there is a much more direct way other than regedit?

A slight digression: The surface pro by default doesn't allow one to scale/customize resolutions. Mine is the i7 version, which reportedly has heating issues where the fan is very loud. To fix it, along with turning off indexing, switching to less intensive software, I realized just adjusting the resolution lower, the fan can be fully kept at a minimum. But, at 2160x1440, there isn't a choice of say at 75% 1620 x 1080, the choice doesnt exist, meaning the tablet screen isn't fully used. I am trying to figure out a way to sort it ou

Thanks in advance.

I think it is the same thing as "right click" on your Desktop screen, then click "Screen Resolution". Change the "resolution" to whatever suit you. After that, click "Make text and other items larger or smaller" and finally check mark the "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays."

That is what I believe it is pretty much the same thing but not customizeable as doing it manually.
