So my grandfather recently bought a new PC. A few days ago I'm checking his system and I see that W7 32 bit is installed.

He has 8GB of RAM so half of it isn't being used.

When the W10 update commes, will he be able to upgrade to W10 64-bits? or do I have to reinstall W7 64 bit first?

What brand of PC did he buy? Was it used? I'm just curious.

You will have to reinstall Windows to get 64-bit.

Hahahahahaha oh man that's a tough spot to be in. What a rookie mistake! No offense. I thought you were going to say HP or something, but they aren't quite that daft. I didn't know windows 10 was still sporting a 32 bit only version.

Win10 64-bit systems can not be installed on the Win10 32-bit system directly , so replace the 32-bit systems to 64-bit systems, make win10 preview image to CD media or U disk, start from a CD-ROM medium or U disk boot to install 64 of win10 systems.
