5800 hd series 2d issues help needed

ok so i had an old 5830 and my new 7870 died  so i put in my old 5830 and redid drivers ect with amds latest for the card and after installing sapphire trixx to oc the card it instantly throws it into 2d mode or something and i start getting horrible screen flicker while on the desktop as well as browser ect if i use fresh driver and no oc its fine but as soon as i do so much as raise my clock or memory clock by 1 it starts issues again but if i run games or a gpu test to throw it in 3d mode it works perfectly fine anyone know a workaround?

it seems if i change my resolution  then change it back after setting my oc it stops the flicker
