I'm a real beginner when it comes to anything software and networking related, so excuse the lack of terminology

The problem I'm having is that from time to time, wireless devices such as phones and tablets (not really laptops) all of a sudden cannot connect to the internet. Whether it'd be just not connecting, or it would continue to ask for the password over and over again. When this happens, I go into the modems settings online and change the channel of the wireless. This fixes the problem but then after awhile, maybe a couple weeks or sometimes sooner, same problem occurs and I do the same thing and it fixes everything temporarily again.

I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Is there a way to fix this issue? I'm using the ISP provided modem which sounds bad, but the range and speed is fine for my family.

honestly, that's what you deal with when you use a ISP provided router.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Download wifi analyzer app on your phone to check wifi congestion.  If it is really bad (tons of networks covering all channels) you can also check the 5ghz band.  It is usually less congested.  You could try getting a 5ghz router.

Also, make sure anything that CAN be plugged in IS plugged in.  Save wifi for mobile devices.
