Current PC: (Core Components built in Feb 2011)

Corsair Vengance C70 Military Green

Corsair HX750

ASUS P6X58D-E

Intel i7-960 Bloomfield 3.2 ghz (OC'd @ 4.0 ghz)

Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC 12800)

EVGA SC GTX 580 1536MB 384-bit GDDR5

SSD 850 Evo 256GB

HDD WD Black 1TB

1. Budget & Location
USA, Virginia Beach, VA. ~$1000 (I realize I may need to up my budget in order to achieve what I want)

2. Aim
Computer will be used for:

Gaming (play a wide range of games, ex. Dayz, BF4, GTA, Insurgency, Chivalry, Fallout, Subnautica, Age of Empires...)

Web browsing (chrome tab fiend)

3D Modeling work (software doesn't take advantage of multiple cores well, better to have fast and fewer cores, I'm thinking quad core)

3. Monitors

I currently have a Dell ST2310 standard 23" 1080p 60hz monitor. Looking to upgrade to a single 27" monitor, would love to be gaming in 1440p but it could be too costly. How much nicer is 1440p over 1080p? I would prefer to have a low ms monitor with freesync or g-sync capabilities.

4. Peripherals
I currerntly have a Razer Deathadder Chroma, CM Storm Quickfire TK Cherry MX Brown, and Harmon Kardon 2.1 sound system. I don't think I need anything here.

5. Why are you upgrading?
I want to upgrade to improve my gaming experience mainly, I have to turn down settings in a lot of games mainly because of my GTX 580. I also would like to be able to work from home when I am not at my workstation at work for 3D Modeling, I can still work with my current setup but its not nearly as effective.

I am thinking Case, PSU, HDD, SSD, and peripherals will carry over fine with the new components. Also would it be wise to wait a little while until the Skylake processors are released?

Slightly over budget, but the 980Ti IS WORTH IT. Also, easy over locking with this.

get another stick of that RAM and a 970/ r9 390(x)? no idea for the other parts

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Yea I would love to have an Acer XB270HU, but I'm wondering if the price is really worth it or not. I am looking at the 1080p variants, the XB240H & XB270H they are about half the price. They seem to be pretty solid G-sync monitors. I sit about 2 feet from my monitor, think 27" 1080p would look good still that close?

Also, YES to the 980 Ti I will be getting one of those for sure if I grab a card within a few months.
