Hello everyone!

My specs are:

i5-4460

4gb ram 1866mhz

ssd 120gb + hdd 1,5tb

asrock h81m-hds

600w fortron 80+

and terrible and old

hd 4670 512mb.

I'm looking for an upgrade, and obviously anything will be an upgrade after my current GPU. I will also get additional 4gb of ram.

Currently, I'm thinking about getting either r9 390 or 970 gtx.

The Nvidia is MSI Gaming and it's about 20 $ more expensive.

The AMD is MSI Gaming or Sapphire Nitro.

I play at 1080p and I don't plan to upgrade to higher resolution anytime soon. (well atleast for 5 years)

I'm slightly biased toward 970 because of supposedly better driver support, but I'm skeptical about it's 3,5 GB of VRAM. It might be enough now, but games in next few years could eat more and more VRAM.

I want to play:

-GTA V

-Skyrim

-The witcher 2/3

-Project cars

and upcoming games

-Fallout 4

-TES VI

-Mass Effect: Andromeda (it is using FB3 engine, not unreal 3 anymore)

Thanks for feedback guys!

Well, Skyrim is definately not the determining factor in my decision about buying a GPU, but I would mod it with Project reality ENB + CoT and some other gameplay mods.

I've seen on Youtube that moded skyrim runs fine on 970 gtx (40-60FPS)

....even beats it in some Nvidia sponsored titles at 1080p.

Is it true that most games are Nvidia biased? How big of a factor is that usually?

I would go with 390 if you're planning to do mods for that extra Vram
