Hello LTT,

For some reason, my PC just randomly shut down now.

I don't know what happen. It just shut down without any reason.

When I boot my PC up when I woke up, I get this weird issue where my PC is on but it doesn't display it on my monitor.

I tried to press and hold down the power button. Oddly, it won't turn off for some reason.

I had to manually turn off my PSU from the back of my PC in order to fix it.

Then later the day (just now), it randomly shut off my PC while playing CS:GO with my friends.

Again, oddly, when I try it turn it on. My PC won't even turn it unless I again manually turn off my PSU and turn it back on in order to turn on my PC.

Finally, whenever I finally turn my PC on, I was thrown into sort of Bios settings where I have to press F1 in order to get into Bios. It was displaying message saying "new CPU installed" for some reason.

Any idea?

Thank you very much, LTT.

Update: I decided to clean my PC with the air duster and pull out few PSU cables and SATA cables and replug them back in.

It seem it worked until two issues.

A) It seem like it is disconnecting or not registering my Logitech G700s like I can hover the mouse but can't click it or use mouse wheel button. Although it seemed like I fixed it by using a different mouse and click my Logitech Driver and it turned on my mouse. It was used but I hope it is fixed it.

B) Every time I turned my PC off, my PC is still on like my PC case led and my sound card, Creative Sound Blaster Z with the red led light. It was weird and it doesn't turn off unless I manually press and hold the power button.

Sounds like a short.

The protection from the PSU is stopping it from powering up. You turning the PSU off and back on is restarting the protection, which is not good as you're negating the very reason of it.

the CPU error could have been a result of the short erasing the bios (the same way you take the battery out)

It's not a race to the bottom.

Ah, I see. Then what are the causes for it and how do I fix it?

Kill your system with forgiving fire!

Or, try trouble shooting steps.

You sure your PSU can consistently power your computer? We're not talking about peek power, or redlining the PSU.

The PSU is grounded correctly?

Computer is not Overclocked?

There is nothing touching the case that shouldn't be. Like a wire, a piece of metal or exposed PCB.

It's not a race to the bottom.

Yes. My PSU is Corsair HX 750W which is well enough power to power up my system.

PSU is grounded.

My CPU, Intel Core i5-2500k, Core Clock Speed is overclock is 4.2 GHz, but it has NEVER cause my PC to randomly shutdown for the past few years.

As for touching the case, do you mean outside or inside?

Inside is clear and nothing is touching it maybe dusts...

Outside, well, there is my little bro PC and bunch of cables and cords between my PC and his PC.

Apparently, every time my PC shutdown or crashed. All of my fans turn on and is loud like a hair dryer.

Over time, overclocked processors will "wear out" and the fine conductors in the processor "wears away or etches away". Over time capacitors wear as well. All electronics wear out. They have a limited lifespan. Try running the system at a lower overclock or at stock speed and see if the problem persists. If it does not then it may be time to consider a replacement system or be happy with the slower set up.

Did I help you to fix your problem or at least did offer somewhat valuable advice? Consider giving my post a "informative" or "thumbs up".

Ah, I see. I will try that once ... I could turn on my PC, lol. Now, it is just literally sitting there and doesn't send any display to my monitor. Can't press and hold the power button to turn off regardless I manually turn off the PSU.

Thanks for the help. I will consider either underclock my CPU core clock speed and/or replace my system.
