Model: Superflower 650W green 80+ gold (They are actually a well regarded brand in germany)

My PC just turned off out of nowhere, I wasn't gaming or doing anything intense, just watching southpark.

After disconnecting it from all the components I connected the green wire on the 24 pin to a black one, but when i flipped the switch on the psu nothing happened, even after connecting some fans, since some PSUs need a certain ammount of load to start up.

I am pretty sure it's dead, or do you guys have an idea how to get it working again?

^ lol no it still has warranty ;)

Continuing:

So today I got a new PSU, hoping it would solve my issues. Turns out it didnt. After some testing I found out that one of my video cards was actually causing the not booting. So after taking it out the system boots fine, but now my it doesnt want to boot from my ssd anymore(840 non-pro 120gb win 7 hp)

During post it detects the ssd correctly, but when loading the OS:

"Loading Operating System...

DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"

I tried pressing enter, but the same error comes up.

What is going on here?

You tried pushing enter, but did you have a system disk in? You can also try going into your BIOS and checking to see if your boot order is correct.

Did the BIOS reset? Check in the BIOS to see if the boot priority is 1st for your SSD.

try taking it apart and checking for bad caps as they ruin your day many times in power supplies. many high end power supplies have fans that spin really slow making the caps go before they should

That's not a good idea, unless it has been sitting unplugged for a few days. :p But seriously, a kid (I think 15 at the time)a few towns over from me got killed doing that a year or so ago.

I have opends 20 power supplies and if your smart you can't get hurt. you short out the caps with a piece of metal that is insullated and don't touch any thing unless you know what the voltage is. you can do it. but be care full. anouther good trick is to always have one hand in you pocket so you can't have one had touch a hot connector and anouther had touch ground stopping your heart

I know that you don't always get hurt opening power supplies, I was just concerned because if the OP didn't have much knowledge of how electricity works, he could get seriously hurt. Just trying to be on the safe side. :p
