I desperately need a mic and I need to decide between these two A or B! I currently have sennheiser HD 518's so I'm looking for a clip on/desktop mic! I have seen the modmic but it's a little out of my price range and sometimes my headphones get really warm so I want to be able to use a mic that I dont need headphones on to wear! Which of these do you reccomend?

The Zalman mic is very popular but apparently is over sensitive - this might be a problem when I'm using my speakers but I could always set my microphone activation levels higher!

The Speedlink mic seems to be better but is apparently not very sensetive, I dont want to have to boost the gain because this will just sound aweful!

I have the Zalman mic and its ok (great if you factor in the price). However, the "clip" is not actually a clip. It can't really attach to anything else than a cable so if you don't use with a headset you need to make your own clip for it. You just force the cable into the "clip" and hope its fat enough to not move out of it. The mic's attach points also only work with the usual round cables so it doesn't work with flat cables that some headsets use. I worked out a "hook" for it with the little plastic bit they use to tie the bundle of cable (reference photo: http://i.imgur.com/4JYmc3C.jpg).

sorry, as I said i need a mic that doesnt require headphones :(

The mod mic doesn't necessarily need headphones. You can probably setup something like this if you manage to get a clip. The modmic is far superior for under $50 honestly.

+1 for zalman.
Use it for my HD 595s and clips on very well (doesn't slip or anything).

It looks like it should clip on very well on the HD 518s.
