I have been randomly losing connection to the internet (but not the network/router) for about 30-60 seconds, and then reconnecting. This happens multiple times a day. I am connected to the router via Ethernet so I'm not sure whether the problem is the router, the cable modem, or on the ISP end. I am totally willing to get a new router since I'm currently using the one provided by Time Warner Cable, but I would first want to confirm that the router is the problem. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Are you using a Windows or Mac based computer?

than the problem isn't with the router, check if all cables are plugghrd in correctly.

Did your ISP give you a router and modem in 1 or separate devices?

separate devices. The cable modem is in the basement and the router is located in my fathers office on the first floor. And I'm sure everything is plugged in correctly.

its possible that you have a fault on your line, you will need to ring your isp and ask them to check it.
