Steam mobile authentication

So as a normal PC gamer in 2015 i use steam!! but recently i have been trying to log onto steam on my browser and doing so i need to authenticate. I have it set where the steam app can be used but i tried this like normal but none of the codes work!?! I have looked through steam support forums and have brought me to a page to turn this feature off and then i can use email codes like normal. The problem is that when i enter my password and recovery code it gives me this message "An error occurred trying to handle that request. Please give us a few minutes and try again.". Can someone please help this is annoying as all hell.

Did you ever fix this? If so, how?  I am having the same problem and would love to get back to gaming!
