Hey guys.

Built my rig now I want to over clock.

I'm using:

Arctic cooler 64

gigabyte f2a-68hd2 mobo

8gb ddr3 1600mhz ram

And I've installed amd overdrive software.

My thermal margin at idle is between 60-70 degrees and under load it's 32 degrees.

Core temp shows my cup at 43 degrees at full load using prime 95 stress test.

But at idle it shows my cpu temp going as low as 2 -10 degrees.

Surely this can't be right?

Does anyone have any info on temperatures before I start trying to oc to 4.3ghz with a voltage of 1.325v

Many thanks

Ryzen 9 7900X

Asrock X670E PG Lightning

32GB G.Skill 6000mhz DDR5

1TB Samsung 990 Pro

Rdna 2 iGPU

Unfortunately AMD temperature gauges are notoriously wrong. Your best bet is to go into your motherboards BIOS and find the CPU temp. Then adjust the offsets on Core Temp according the BIOS CPU temps. Good luck

My bios cpu temp is showing as nearly 70 degrees centigrade on boot up.... but system temp 32degrees

It seems that your CPU has a faulty temperature gauge. You can attempt to return it to the seller. Sorry.

edit: shit, if it's BIOS temp... make sure those 70º aren't from Package temperature from HWmonitor. Check Core temperature at load (it's more or less fiable). Thermal Margin is fiable too.

CPU temp from the mobo is the fiable one.

PS: That motherboard is weak as fuck for overclocking with 3+2VRM without heatsink.

I'm at 1.416V @ 4.2GHz (comparable to 760K at 4500-4600MHz more or less), I need 1.486V for 4.3, but that's too much voltage for 3+2VRM without heatsink.

AMD 860K @ 4.3GHz ; Kingston HyperX Fury 2400MHz ; Asus A88XM-Plus ; Sapphire R9 270X 2GB ; 600W Tacens Radix VII AG 80+Silver  ; Cooler Master TX3 Evo

When I check HW monitor  it shows package temp as 95 degrees centigrade!! but i have seen no signs of throttling at all.... and yet speed fan shows Core temp as 42 idle and 59 under load......

Yet when I ran PRIME95 torture test for 2 hours yesterday the thermal margin on overdrive showed up as 31 degrees under the max limit... and coretemp only showed my temp going up to 51 degrees...

So confused :(

60° package is around Real 40°s from my experience, which coincide with those 46/47°

Package temp in APUs is weird.

Also, if at load core temp is 51 and package is 95, there are even more coincidences with my pic. Don't worry, you are getting ~60° at load probably.

I've seen reviews for the A10 7850K with overclock up to 4.5-4.6 GHz. Most stable at 4.4 GHz. Since the 860K is basically the CPU part of the 7850K, that is the best the CPU is capable. The 860K is a 3.7 GHz with Turbo to 4 GHz. So on air, you can get to at least 4 GHz easily. For more, you need to experiment with voltages.
