Freezes while gaming

Hi All,

 

This is my first post and i would like some thoughts/ help with a freezing problem i am seeing.

 

I get this in two games up to now, the first is assins creed unity and the second is mass effect.

 

I dont understand why mass effect should have these problems but it is a little irritating, the same computer plays shadow of mordor and tomb raider with no big problems.

 

my specs are,

 

cpu: intel g3258 oc at 4.5GHz

GPU: R9 290X

Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5

HDD: 2x samsung SSD in raid 0

Power: corsair AX860

Cooling: custom water cooling

 

Does anyone have any ideas?

 

Also i think my temps are a little high for water cooling after 8 hours of prime the cup is stable at around 72C (1.28v)

definetly a cpu bottleneck due to the dual core pentium. get a core i5-4590 or better

you don't need the 4690k to run a 290x (even though i have the 4690k). a 4590 will do if you don't want to OC

I was building the system up and was going to replace the cpu with a 4790k at christmas but i got a crap christmas bonus so couldnt afford it.

 

I will be building a skylake based system with this years bonus so i just want to be able to use it until then.

 

shouldnt an old game like mass effect still run ok on this setup?

Dat CPU. Get a Core i5 4690k or 4790k, especially with your build.

Managed to persuade the wife into letting me get a 4790k. I have installed the CPU (just swapped it out) and the Max temp is 100C on prime. Idle temp is between 35 and 42.

Any ideas?

Don't prime95 a haswell CPU. Never. It kills Haswell CPUs
