So I bought my GTX 750 Ti the other day for pretty cheap and thought I would chuck it in my system underneath my GTX 970 (the difference in size is comical). However, the 750 Ti is SO LOUD, given that it's sitting at idle. Someone suggested that the fan is probably dry and could do with lubrication.

Any know of a video which shows a comparison of a fan before and after it's been lubed? Don't want to go through the hassle of taking apart my card to try to fix a problem that isn't there. I tried to find this kind of video with no luck.

As a side note, the fan sits at 30% and cannot be turned down below that.

Why did you get a 750ti when you already have a 970?

It was available to me for half its retail price, so I thought, why not?

I'm considering putting it into an mITX LAN rig.

do you see any grease. Fan bearings are sealed and not worth the trouble of re lubing most the time. Can you push the fan in or does it wobble?

Be gentle one finger, perhaps a thumb ;)

What cooler is on it ?

MSI GTX 750 Ti OCV1. It's the reference card.

You could try this

Before you do anything else, take it back to where you ought it and exchange it for another(assuming you bought it new).

The situation in which I bought it can make a replacement a bit of a nightmare.

Can someone suggest a possible problem with the card before I proceed with getting it replaced? It sits at 30% idle speed and is pretty loud. It sounds like it's running at full speed, but isn't running that fast at all.

if you are willing to void your warrantee, you can try that DIYPerks video as shown above by MrEppart1.

I'm in contact with the people I bought it from.

Just wanted to check that it was a problem with my specific card or a problem with the design. It does seem oddly loud for idle, so the fault is probably with my card.
