Failure configuring Windows updates

Go to solution Solved by Joshndroid,

i noticed that at times when you mass install far too many updates it can hang and crash..

when i do a full clean windows installation i stop auto update and manual install about 20-30 updates at a time and restart in between. dont have any dramas this way. with mass updates such as this in the past i have had error and even hanging at the installing update blah of blah screen... painful but it works for me

So I recently installed a new SSD in my computer to speed up my boot times and loading times a little bit.  I also decided to do a fresh install of windows 7 (off an official, genuine disk) since I was running my previous install for like five years.  Windows is also activated so there is no problem with that. The problem is that when I restart to install updates it installs somewhere around 180 updates then when I turn it back on it attempts to configure the updates and never goes past zero percent.  Then I get the message "Failure configuring windows updates. Reverting changes."  I've tried running the Windows update diagnostic but it doesn't fix the problem (I've attached a picture of what the update diagnostic says is the problem).

Does anyone know how I can fix the problem?  Thanks in advance for any help.

It may be a virus, try installing malwarebytes and running a scan on that.

Happy to help with any tech problems. Windows 10 installing guide here.
