I am looking around for a 3D printer but I don't know what's the best. I want one that's below $1000 that can print fairly big object at high precision. Printing time is not an issue.

you'll struggle to get one for under $1000, there are some for around $2000 that are considered affordable version. if you want a really accurate, high prescision one your looking at $10,000-$20,000 or even more.

I was looking into buying one a few weeks ago, had I done it. My choice would most likely have been the Solidoodle 3: http://store.solidoodle.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=79

Compared with Makerbot, Ultimaker and so on. It seems like it does a decent job, especially for the price. Loads of 3d printable upgrades, no fancy ABS cartridge. However it's a little ghetto looking, and obviously it might not be as precise as the more expensive 3d printers.

As I said though, I was just looking into buying one. So I havn't gotten any hands on experience with it.

If you do end up buying one please print outside. If you print indoor it's basically like smoking a cigarette.

I've used a 3D printer before and they don't smoke at all

No, but all of the stuff that comes off it can damage your lungs.
