Single or Dual Loop

Go to solution Solved by gamerking,

Would a 360mm and 480 mm rad for each loop be overkill and a complete waste or would the hardware benefit from it somewhat. thank :)

for that you could use very low speed fans with 840mm of rad space per loop . max 1k rpm like 400-800rpm ones and it wouldn't make a peep . since its a custom desk build go with you like if having 2 loops looks better and fills it out do that, if not go with one . and the tubing size really doesnt matter till you go lower then i think 1/4 ID which is where the restriction starts to build .3/8 ID and up it doesn't really matter then. i personal like 3/8 5/8 for the tight bends you can do. that require a bit more work with 1/2 tubing to do the same thing

Hi

I am starting to order parts for my new computer which will contain a water cooled intel x99 CPU not decided on which one yet and 2 GTX 980ti's. I just wanted to ask a few questions about the loop. I plan on having two 480mm rads as I assume this would be more than enough for two gpu's and one cpu the question I wanted to ask is would I be better to make two separate loops one for gpu's and one for cpu's or would a single loop provide better cooling. thanks

You'll have about the same GPU temps either way.

But you'll have lower CPU temps if you make 2 loops.

Ok thanks think I will go with dual if I go hard tubing but single if I go for flexible tubing only decision I need to make now is the tubing :D

primochill for either soft or hard  get there hard fittings if you go with their hard tubing since there is 2 different ways for them to be sized imperial or metric

for what you going to have i would go single loop since dual 480's is more then enough for 2 980's and a x99 cpu . but if price ant a issue you just have to double your pumps for two links

Is there any benefits in either tubing. I know soft is much easier to perform upgrades but is there any other benefits? thanks :)

hard tubing can look better but takes more skill to do right . soft is simpler but if its done right can look as good as hard tubing . hard tubing needs to be drained fully for upgrades soft you can get way with making a air bubble move to the part you want to remove then removing it and replacing said part without fully draining it . hard tubing doesnt have the plasterizer issues some tubing for soft has but that mainly a old issue now since most of the main line soft now has most of the leaching issue dealt with. soft tubing can come in nearly any color you want for hard i think there ant any colors of them .

I'm looking at using clear tubing as I am going to use Mayhems Sunset Pastel Yellow I think its called so color of tubing isn't too important in term of type of tubing I am thinking of going with 3/8" ID 1/2" OD as I already have several fittings for this type and size of tubing in my current rig and seems a shame to waste fairly new fittings by not using them is 3/8" ID 1/2" OD a good size to stick with. Just asking as this is only the second water cooled build I have done :D Thanks

Nothing cant be fixed

If you have minimum space for radiator and not likely will stress cpu and gpu both at the same time, A single loop can offer you compact performance with min rads.

Space is definitely not an issue  being a custom desk build I probably have more space than two Corsair 900d's put together lol. I also plan on doing overclocking for the first time to 4ghz on the cpu and not sure what on the gpu's yet. in saying that I haven't yet looked at what people have managed to overclock the 5960X CPU to. Thanks for the help though.
