I fail to see the CPU problem? Google Chrome isn't actually more lightweight than Firefox any more so it wouldn't make a difference.

Also, wrong section.

Why do you assume it's your CPU causing lag?

4690k is a VERY capable CPU.

You might have bloatware/malware/whatever lurking around. Or your data is fragmented as hell.

Sounds like your CPU is either getting overloaded by something, causing it to go to 100% utilization or you're running out of RAM

Sorry, what should i do then?

I am sorry too, because I don't know. Scan for virus' and malware using anti virus and applications such as malwarebytes to begin with. If you are using a Hard Drive and NOT an SSD then you can defragment your drive. Try reinstalling firefox or chrome. If all else fails I suppose reinstall Windows.

Okay,So what do you recommend doing if your in my place

first of all check how much memory is being used, same with CPU while doing "the usual" tasks (browsing, procrastinating, etc.) (all these can be done from... task manager). If anything seems out of order, try to isolate what is hogging resources. That usually gives you an idea of what's going on.

If memory/cpu usage seem normal, try defragmenting your drive(s).

If that doesn't help, check for malware/spyware/adware/bloatware. Malwarebytes should help there.

If ANYTHING doesn't solve the problem, back up important data on an external drive, do a full format of your drive(s) and install Windows fresh.

Your problem seems familiar, but I have ALWAYS seen it happen on old hardware, specifically hardware that was 7+ years old or on the point of failure. It's safe to assume that your hardware isn't that old, so I'm not going to jump to conclusions regarding the hardware itself. Most likely a software issue.

I don't know if this applies to you, but for the past 1-2 years I've had nothing but problems with Firefox, usually for some reason Flash just bluescreens my computer when Firefox uses it and even when I used Firefox without Flash installed it would get slow and just not feel right.

I switched over to Opera and haven't looked back, have never had problems with Opera except for the occasional website here and there having issues playing videos(Vines mostly, YouTube works perfectly) or loading some content.

So I would suggest trying another browser, if the problem persists then you know it isn't Firefox.
