Graphics Card Usage

Hi guys,

 

So, lately I've been playing Metro Last Light on my pc (GTX 970, i5 4460) on 60fps steady, everything maxed,  AA on 0,5x.

When I tryed to put AA to x2 (or even off) the fps droped to around 45, which seems normal. The thing is, as I was running afterburner in the background, I noticed GPU usage was only around 60%...

 

I can't understand why wouldn't the game use more of the GPU, if the frame rate isn't on its max yet. Is it because I'm CPU bottlenecked? Can I bypass the usage lock somehow?

Memory constraints??

It's the only thing I can think of that could cause that sort of drop

My gtx 750 ti and g3258 runs fine with AF 16x ssaa 3x and very high on 60fps maybe a bottlebeck how much ram do you have

God damn 3,5GB!

Nah, I'm kidding, I think it's not that. From what I see memory usage sits at around 1,5GB with 2xSSAA

BTW I do have "advanced physics" enabled, whatever that is

Edit: I mean the game runs fine either way, just not at constant 60fps.

hmmm, ok i currently have metro last light redux installed so ill play a little bit on it (only have like 20 mins in) in the next hour and see what i get, i have a slightly higher clocked cpu (4.3) and gpu is at 1510 mhz

im not sure but the redux may be better optimized.

Mine is the redux too. GPU at 1340 mhz though (didn't OC)

With 4xSSAA i noticed not that gpu usage did go to almost 100%. But frame rate drop to around 30

No. Just what it boosts by itself.

Thats your problem. Turn it off
