First off, I know, sponsors are sponsors and they pay probably half off the bills.

But when I saw that yesterday's video had a kickstarter ad I was suprised.

LMG to me always had sponsors which they knew were good, or had personal experience with.

And when they had the opportunity to be sponsored by G2A they reached out to the LTT community and then decided to decline the offer. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/333374-potential-new-sponsor-g2a-yay-or-nay/

Although I like to see this kickstarter project to become reality and be as promised, there's never a guarentee, and we all heard those stories of kickstarter projects just bailling and taking the money.

On top of that the project was already way over it's goal at the time of editing the video, so I see little point in throwing extra money at the project.

I would have been fine with the sponsor had LMG actually tested a sample and verified the claims this project makes, but as it stands I don't think this ad has it's place in a LTT video.

There's nothing wrong with the site it's just that LMG is essentially advertising a promise.

Like i have said in the past , this may signify the downfall of LMG

I may be missing something but haven't the two previous videos had freshbooks integrations? If you're referring to the YouTube preroll, Linus has no control over that.

No I'm talking about the sponsorspot at the end of the video.

Whats with all the Chicken Littles lately? You do realize that all advertising is just a promise right?

I'm not that sceptical, but this is a step in the wrong direction IMO.

I think it has no bearing and its just fear of things that are changing. There have been plenty of success stories from kickstarter.

Edit: thanks for adding a link to the video and the time at which it appears.

Ahh, missed that, I normally watch on vessel and as such don't get the integrations and only checked for one at the start of the video.

Apologies for questioning your sanity...

OT: It would have been a decent idea to get community feedback, especially when people in LMG have been burnt by campaigns not always delivering the final product.

Yeah I understand what you are saying, but I personally do not have an issue with LTT being sponsored by or promoting specific kickstarter deals

However, as a community I feel  we should have some sort of voice about what we deem acceptable or not

Like i have said in the past , this may signify the downfall of LMG

What is it with people predicting a downfall? they have done nothing but grow and grow and grow

People have been saying Apple will have a downfall for years yet they keep raking in money, LTT are doing better tahn ever, and their new office and recording sets might mean they do EVEN BETTER than before

A while ago he was approached by that Chinese Antivirus firm and asked the community for our opinion because he "wasn't familiar with the company".

We voiced our concerns then and that either caused Linus to decline the offer or the company to pull out.

And now he goes advertising an unproven product from a startup.

SNIP

Yeah as I said, i understand peoples concerns, but i feel less about kick-starter since I know how the site works and I its risks etc

But again as I said I feel we as the LTT community should have some say
