Hey, so I decided that I am purchasing that secondary 290x, and I've noticed the 8 GB Sapphire Tri-X Version is not much more expensive, so I thought I might get that so just in case crossfire doesn't have a profile for a game I have a powerful single card, but I just want to make sure that the 4 GB Tri-X 290x will Crossfire with the 8 GB version of the same card. It might be worth noting that I have the "old version" of the Tri-X which was only recently updated in some way I do not know. (EDIT: it seems it's now "UEFI" and it wasn't before)

OR maybe, they will, but having perfectly matching cards will be more beneficial to performance in Crossfire? If that's the case, I would buy the 4 GB version again.

Thanks.

When you SLI a 4GB card with 8GB card you'll get only 4GB effectively. I can't see why you would need the extra 4GB. IF you are playing at 1440p you will use around 2.5GB to 2.9GB unless you are playing the new batman in which case you need to wire up a 128GB SSD to your GPUs. (JK)

Bruh what are you trying to do burn your house down?

Old joke mate.

If you buy the 8GB VRAM version the card and xfire it with your 4GB card, the 8GB card will go to 4GB vram to xfire with the other 4gb VRAM card.

But as for single card in game, don't think it's not worth it to spend the extra money for a extra 4GB unless your playing at 1440P or above......

I said because I'd have a more powerful single card when a crossfire profile was not available for a game. Increasing my performance, having an effective 8gb in that happenstance, seeing as it's not much more money, I don't see the issue. I just want to know if it's gonna work.

It will work.

If you ever need the 8GB one R9 290x won't be able to drive the game.

Just get 2 R9 290x 4GB unless the 8GB is really cheap.
