Heyo,

Have a Samsung 840 Evo that refuses to boot, it's about 8 months old, has been used as my boot drive since I got it.

It was working fine this morning and Samsung Magician said the drive was healthy when I checked last night. When I power on the computer, it posts, screen flickers for a few seconds and then bios opens, no errors stated. Drive shows up in bios.

I have tried other sata cables and ports and have unplugged all other drives, any help would be much appreciated

Try pressing F11 and booting directly into the SSD. If it wont do that then create a Windows installation USB/Disc and insert that and try boot that and repair windows. I had a similar issue. Uninstall Magician when you get back into the OS. Use HD Sentinel or something else along those lines. Saves RAM too.

It completely ignores f11. Tried booting straight into the ssd from bios but it still does the same thing.

Try a Windows repair then. If the Windows repair doesnt work then try checking your SATA cables again. Then if nothing, try clearing the CMOS. If CMOS doesnt work then try reinstall your motherboards firmware. If none of the above works then i'm afraid i'm out of ideas.

Just try booting into the bios, or try reformatting it, and get a new windows install.  It could be that Windows has been corrupt or something inside your operating system has gone really crazy and somehow prevented it from actually booting and therefore causing your ssd actually not to boot.

Clean install isn't overly ideal, if I have no other choice I'll have to. Recovery first.

I mean you could always try get into your windows repair and do a system restore. I cant remember if you can create a system image in WRepair but if you can then you could try that. Or just create an image once you manage to figure out how to boot, just so if it happens again you can just reformat to that image.

The fast boot thing? Nope.

Cant be that screwing with it then. The only thing i can think of is that Windows is Locked. The only way i know of unlocking it is just wiping it and reinstalling. However you can run chkdsk from the W7/8 boot USB/Disc from with the CMD. Theres various command prompts you can use to check for disc errors etc so if you take a quick Google for cmd error prompts or something along those lines then you may find something that might help.

If it ran last night then you could have shutdown the computer by accident when it was in progressed and causing your SSD to fail. If you can't install windows again then you know what happened :P

Reinstall worked, didn't have time to install drivers but it got into Windows, fingers crossed it stays healthy.

Once you get your system fully functional and have all your drivers installed i'd create an image for it just incase anything like this happens again.
