CHA_fan1 and 2 fluctuation

clwebb

I switched out my motherboard and it now giving me issues with fan reading. In BOIS my CHA_fan 1 and 2 are fluctuating from like 500rpm up to 10000 and sometime CHA_1 does not even show up, I did a BOIS flash to the lastest version and it is still the same! I am just wondering if I have something on that is making it do this, the fans is have connected are Corsair SP120s and the motherboard is ASUS M5A99FX PRO 2.0.

Is it a bad board? Not enough power, I have RM650w

Also on speedfan it shows PWM mode as software controlled and temp sensor diode as thermistor is that is any idea of why this is happening, I hope its not the board as I cannot return it!

I've had fans that have done the same thing to me too, I think it's down to the sensor on the fans, or perhaps it happens with certain Mobo+Fan combinations, at any rate, it isn't really anything to worry about too much.

I have the same motherboard, and used to have the same fans, it's a known problem that SP120s have wierd RPM monitoring. When I had my SP120s, it would say the fans were at 0 RPM when in reality they were running perfectly fine. It's nothing to worry about.

So these fans are crap? Or the sensors on the MB are broken?

I am still not able to control these and they are PWM

Should I get a fan controller for them?
