So I recently decided I would stop procrastinating and actually upgrade my laptop. I bought a Samsung 850 EVO SSD (250GB) to put in my laptops 2nd 2.5" drive bay with the stock 1TB HDD in bay 1. So, the SSD wouldn't work at all in bay 2, my laptop would not detect it (there is nothing wrong with the drive because it works with a USB to SATA III adapter). Anyways, I decided on a last ditch attempt to do it myself without professional help to switch my SSD and my HDD (putting the SSD in bay 1 and my HDD in bay 2) and they both work.

TL;DR: My new SSD doesn't work in bay 2, but works in bay 1. The stock HDD works in both bay 1 and 2.

I was just wondering if anyone knows why this is happening and/or if it's a sign that there's a problem with something.

You would think Ubisoft would support the Bulldozer based architectures more given their digging themed names like bulldozer, Piledriver, Steamroller and Excavator.

I had a similar thing happen. I got a 250gb 850 pro form my laptop and it would not work with the expansion bay sata connection. Only the main hdd connection. The normal hdd worked with no problem though.

so when the HDD is in bay 2 and your ssd is in bay 1 they work... I don't see the problem it seems to me that you already solved it. My advice would be to leave it alone now that it is working.

true just switch the HHD to bay 2 and ssd to bay 1

Well ya, I did solve the issue of the SSD not working. I was more or less wondering if this were some sort of sign that something wrong with my laptop/hard drive.
