16gb for a gaming rig is a bit overkill. But it can be handy in man situations if you're a poweruser.

 

You might consider picking up a HDD as well, because with 500gb you'll run out of storage within days if you want to keep a decent game library.

 

Other than those things, it's a solid build. All the parts are compatible.

I need some advice on a new gaming rig I am looking to build

Im going to use it for gaming at 1080p. I need it to be portable so it could be carried quite easily

It needs to be relatively cool because I live in the tropics

This is what I came up with:

Case: SilverStone Technology Raven Z Mini-ITX / DTX Small Form Factor SFX Computer Case with PCI-E Riser and Custom Low Profile Fans, Black (RVZ01B)

(can't use RVZ02 because i want a 3.5 hdd)

PSU:SilverStone Technology 500W SFX-L Form Factor 80 PLUS GOLD Full Modular Lengthened Power Supply with +12V single rail, Active PFC (SX500-LG)

Motherboard:Asus Z97I-PLUS Motherboard

CPU:Intel Core i5-4690K Processor 3.5 GHz LGA 1150 BX80646I54690K

GPU:MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G Graphics Cards

Storage:Crucial BX100 500GB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive - CT500BX100SSD1

 and Toshiba 3.5-Inch 2TB 7200 RPM SATA3/SATA 6.0 GB/s 64MB Hard Drive DT01ACA200

RAM:Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 DRAM 1600MHz C9 Memory Kit (CMY16GX3M2A16​00C9R)

I am wondering if this would work and if there any an better options.
