Help with some new hardware

Go to solution Solved by Cryptonite,

So I am planning to upgrading my rig, my current specs are

Gigabyte GA-PA65-UD3-B3

Intel core i5 2500K.

Noctua NH-d14 cpu cooler.

Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 Windforce 3.

I cant remember the name of my RAM, but it's really old 1333Mhz ram.

Corsair HX-650W PSU

Now for the actual question, I am planning to upgrade to a Haswell CPU (i5 4670K) and I will also get my hands on some Vengeance pro RAM (To fit my CPU cooler)

I would like to know if I should buy a Asus Maximus VI Hero or a MSI z87a-G45 Gaming mobo.

I would also like to know if I should get the Corsair 16g (8x2) CL9 1600Mhz Vengeance pro RAM or if it would be worth getting the 16gb cl10 2400Mhz Vengeance pro ram.

Thank you for answearing, it's greatly appreciated!

dude there's no need to upgrade from a 2500k, infact a lot of 2500k's overclock way better than haswell. just get a Z77 motherboard and you're set. (also that should give you the opportunity to ramp the ram up to 1600 Mhz)

as for GPU, with all the cash I just saved you by telling you this you can buy a top of the range card, although I think the 7950 is plenty.

I don't see the point in upgrading, it isn't going to be any faster and you don't need 16gigs of ram if you are just gaming.

Don't get more RAM. Get a second Graphics card instead, while upgrading the power supply!

Case: 650D CPU: i5 4670K GPU: GTX 770 Gaming @1306MHz Motherboard: MAXIMUS VI Hero PSU: AX760 CPU Cooler: H100i RAM: 8GB Vengeance Pro @1866MHz Storage: 840 250GB SSD / 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.14

i recommend not getting a second card, as crossfire does not run great on all games. If i were you i will wait until october to buy a graphics card, because they will launch the new radeons. And your card will be great for 3 months.

You dont need to change the memory nut if you were going to change it get 8 gb at 1600 mhz such as the corsair vegeance or corsair vegeance pro

Ok, so because of the reason everyone tells me to not get a new cpu, ill have to ask what mobo would be suitable. I live in sweden and I will be getting my hardware from either inet.se or komplett.se, neither of those sell any of the ROG series mobos anymore (only for the z87 chipset) and which GPU would be good to upgrade too, Im thinking about GTX 770 or would it be worth saving for a 780?
